Abstract

Music occupies a very important place in adolescent life due to the multiple functions it plays in their lives in addition to being one of the most consumed products among them. Currently music is a sociocultural element that has always been present in societies and has fulfilled important roles as well. Music is capable of awakening emotions in people and can also serve as a means of articulating the memory of individuals. Music is also mostly used as an aesthetic pleasure and a form of entertainment for adolescents, not everyone who listens to music can understand its beauty and complexity, so very few are able to give it this use. Music is a tool that, beyond entertaining, can also contribute to the academic and social education of adolescents. Nowadays, the different educational systems should establish strategies for development, recognition and curricular incorporation, proposing educational processes that are supported by music and thus enhance the academic and social skills of adolescents.
