The Sustainable Development goals and government action

Abstract

This work analyzed the trajectory of the Development concept, from the second postwar period of the 20th century, until its definition as a multidimensional process that includes, in addition to advances in the field of economics, attention to processes associated with inclusive social well-being, as well as preservation of the environment. It is an investigation of the Postdoctoral Public Policies for Sustainability and Development 2021 promoted by the International Academy of Political-Administrative Sciences and Future Studies, A. C. It was conceived as a historical and descriptive investigation. It was defined, according to its form, as an active or applied research, while, as proposed by Tamayo (2004), it relates theory to reality. The research design, as the structure that the research follows, and according to the data collected in the research, was defined as a mixed design (Baena, 2017), since it includes a bibliographic, documentary and statistical analysis design. Primary and secondary, documentary and bibliographic sources were used. It is concluded that in 1987 an exponential leap was made in the conception of development when the document "Our common future" (Brundtland Report) was approved, in which the idea of sustainable development was introduced, and the recognition of the need to promote sustainability ecological. Later, in the 1990 Human Development Report, development was defined as development with a human face. It comments on the importance of the international response to the ravages of the neoliberal model with the institutionalization of two agendas: the Millennium Goals of 2000-2015 and the 2030 Agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals. Such commitments consider the active presence of governments around the world to be relevant. In this sense, the study addressed the role that government organizations play in the promotion, design and implementation of actions aimed at achieving the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals.
